New Year, New Happenings at the Inn

Happy New Month, Happy New Year, and Happy New Decade!

This year, 2020, marks 150 years since my great-great-grandparent Charles and Sarah Adams built their home just outside the boundaries of the old fort in what is now Parowan, Utah. That same year, they had their first child, and would go on to raise nine children in the home, the sixth being my great-grandfather Will L, who eventually would marry Lizzie Watson. Unfortunately, another three children were either stillbirths, or did not live past the day they were born.

I can only imagine the day to day happenings in and around the old home. I search histories and read stories and memories written by Charles and Sarah's grandchildren to try to fill in the blanks and get a feel of these two amazing people and their 50 years in the home. I am grateful every day for the letters, memories, and artifacts my own grandmother kept about her grandparents. All these things make me feel a bit more connected to them and their home.

Even though I named the bed and breakfast after my great-grandmother Lizzie, I feel it fitting to spend this year, the sesquicentennial of the home, honoring Sarah, my great-great-grandmother whose home this was and is, and doing what I can to preserve her memory.

I have so many fun and exciting things planned for this year, and I hope I can make Grandma Sarah proud!
